Looking after your mental health is equally as important as your physical health.

Research by the New Economics Foundation has found that there are five ways to look after your mental wellbeing. These are:

 5 Ways to Wellbeing

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing

Scroll through the 5 Ways to Wellbeing in more detail below:

Connect

Connecting with the people around us is a great way to remind ourselves that we’re important and valued by others.

Arrange to meet people regularly, reach out to someone, talk, listen and feel connected.

Take Notice

Taking notice of our thoughts, emotions and surroundings is a great way to stay present and pay attention to our needs.

Take up a mindful hobby like knitting or journaling.
Allocate time to reflect on what went well that day.

Give

Do something kind for a friend or relation/adult, as well as making them feel good, it can make you feel good too!

This could include small acts of kindness, like helping someone with their school work, or larger ones like volunteering in your local community.

Keep learning

Learning new things is a good way of boosting our self confidence, which in turn improves our mental health and wellbeing.

Try out a new recipe, try to learn a new language or even learn something new about the people around you.

Be active

Moving our bodies regularly is a great way of looking after our mental and physical health at the same time.

Depending on your ability you could try stretching, having a kick-about in a local park, joining a sports club or taking a walk in the woods with your friends & family.
