Parul Dix

I moved to Berkhamsted in 2011 with my husband, our son and daughter — and later two very noisy dogs who completed the family! For more than eight years I worked in a local school, supporting children every day. When the chance came to lead The Swan Youth Project in 2021, it felt like the most natural step.

What I love most about The Swan is that it’s more than a youth centre in Berkhamsted — it’s our Swan Family. It’s a safe space where young people feel heard, where no subject is taboo, and where community and friendships grow.

I love cooking, and being able to share it with our members has been a complete joy. Running The Swan has its challenges, of course — but it’s also a real privilege, and one I value greatly.
