Easter HAPpy Camp at The Swan Youth Project, Berkhamsted

Last week was the first week of the Easter holiday, and honestly, the youth club at The Swan Youth Project in Berkhamsted was absolutely buzzing. It was so good to see the space full of life, laughter, and that real community feel.

We were so happy to run our Easter HAPpy Camp, a holiday activity programme for young people in Hertfordshire. Huge thank you to the Hertfordshire Community Foundation — we really couldn’t do it without their support.

Each morning started at 9:30 with a mix of games, crafts, time outside, and a proper hot meal for everyone.

But it’s about more than just activities. It’s about giving young people a safe space where they feel they belong. One young person said, “At HAPpy Camp, I eat more healthy food,” and another shared, “Because of this, I’m actually going outside instead of staying at home.”

We also noticed something really simple but lovely — phones stayed in pockets. Instead, they were present. Watching the ducklings by the canal, chatting, just enjoying being together.

To finish the week, we left some little “kindness stones” around the park in Berkhamsted to spread a bit of joy in the community.

A big thank you to the whole team and everyone who supports The Swan Youth Project and our work with young people in Hertfordshire. See you soon.
