HAPpy Camp: Week Three ☀️

Updated: 16 hours ago

What a wonderful final week of our HAPpy Camp Summer 2026!

We started the week with park fun, a visit to the Town Hall library and a very important discovery… we thought we'd found Marge Simpson's hair! 😄 Thankfully, it was just our first attempt at making our own candy floss!

There were lots of smiles, a wonderful lunch together and plenty of candy floss making. A lovely start to our last week of HAPpy Camp.

Food continued to be a big part of the week. We used freshly picked produce from the garden and encouraged our members to try fresh food, cook and eat well. We enjoyed mac & cheese with garlic bread and salad, as well as lasagne kindly donated by COOK Berkhamsted. Clean plates again! 🍽️

Despite the heat, we still made good use of our local green spaces. Dodgeball and target practice continued, although on one particularly hot day running about like loons was replaced with playing cards and learning to play PIG! ☀️

We also ended one of our lunches with an act of kindness. Our members took flowers to Berkhamsted Town Council to thank them for their support and for helping us at the Big Green Event. ❤️

And what a way to finish three weeks of HAPpy Camp — a trip to Whipsnade Zoo! 🦁🐘

We had a wonderful time seeing the animals and the staff were amazing. It was a fantastic final experience for our members and a brilliant way to end HAPpy Camp Summer 2026.

A HUGE thank you to HCF for funding this wonderful programme and enabling us to provide these experiences while helping to ensure that no child accessing our provision goes hungry during the summer holidays. Food poverty sadly exists in our community, so initiatives like HAPpy are an absolute lifeline for many.

And finally, a huge thank you to our staff team Jacob, Holly and Galia for sticking with my plans and helping deliver such a fantastic three weeks.

THANK YOU! 🙏🏽
